Planning
For travel in the high season (June to October, and late December to February) we recommend enquiring six to twelve months ahead so we can secure the camps you want. Shoulder-season trips can often be arranged with a few weeks' notice.
Our safaris are arranged as private journeys — your own vehicle, guide and itinerary. If you would like to share costs with other travellers, tell us and we will let you know what is possible for your dates.
Yes. Every itinerary on this site is a starting point. Tell us your interests, pace and budget and we will design the trip around you.
Kilimanjaro
No technical skills are required — Kilimanjaro is a trekking peak. Good general fitness, the right clothing and a route with enough days for acclimatisation matter far more than mountaineering experience.
It depends on how many days you have, how you handle altitude and what scenery you want. Lemosho and the Northern Circuit give the best acclimatisation; Marangu is the only route with huts; Rongai is quieter and drier. Our Kilimanjaro page compares them and we are happy to advise.
On safari
Typically: your private 4×4 vehicle and driver-guide, park fees, accommodation, meals as listed, drinking water in the vehicle, game drives and airport transfers. International flights, visas, tips and personal items are excluded. Each itinerary lists its inclusions in full.
Tanzania is a well-established safari destination. Inside the parks you are always with your guide; in towns, normal travel precautions apply. We brief every guest on arrival and are reachable throughout your trip.
Practical
Most visitors need a visa. Many nationalities can apply online in advance through the Tanzania Immigration e-visa portal or obtain one on arrival. Requirements change, so please confirm with your nearest Tanzanian embassy before travel.
Consult a travel clinic or your doctor at least six weeks before departure. A yellow fever certificate is required if you arrive from a country where yellow fever is present, and malaria precautions are advised for most of Tanzania.
